About Us

SEA B. MARRAH

Veteran Musician, Singer, Songwriter - SEA B. MARRAH - has actualized his dreams of releasing his debut solo vocal album “Yes It’s True”, dreams can come through.

A 12-track collection of authentic Reggae rhythms paired with Reality, Roots and Lovers lyrics, all delivered with a vocal that is committed to every word and the message is in the music. From track one, “His Majesty’s Teachings” to track 12, “Leaving”, you will go away feeling touched by an artist destined to reach the world.

On tracks such as “Bawl Out,” it is loud and clear that he is “Calling Out” to the leaders of the world to help the suffering children around the globe. This album covers the spectrum of what reggae is all about. Sea B’s Lovers Rock vibe on songs such as “Your Love Is So Good”, “Hand In Hand” and “Oh Baby” are truly Afromantic. While “Oh Jah” and “I Pray Thee” give praises to the creator, the album is balanced out with the fun and frolic of “Dance If You Want” and “I Need Your Love”.

Sea B. grew up with a love for music and would even save his lunch money to buy records. Sea B. attended Excelsior High School in Jamaica. He relocated to Miami and entered the music business as the lead singer in a band called Paul Laughton & the Night People; however that association was short lived. When the band split

and six of the members decided to become a musical/vocal group, Sea B. rose to the occasion and picked up the saxophone; with discipline and some training he became the saxophone player and one of the vocalists in the newly formed Roots Uprising Band. He recalls, “At that time most of us were in school. I always knew I wanted to play the saxophone, so I went out and rented my first sax and the place also gave lessons. That’s how I started out and every evening I would spend some time practicing. Rayner Washington purchased his first keyboards and similarly Bentley Rae bought his first drum set; my brother Winston bought his guitar and Paul Fakhourie was on bass and Richard Bryce was on keyboards. Eventually we rented a warehouse in Opa Locka and started to play. We rehearsed, rehearsed, rehearsed and started getting gigs here and there but we wanted a bigger sound. Then three brothers, Donald, Errol and Teddy Greave joined the group as singers and playing trumpet, cornet and flute respectively, along with Cecil Ordonez on lead guitar. Now I was playing tenor and alto saxophone so we had a unique and different sound. With ten people in the band, the four horns players were up front doing lead and back up vocals.

Roots Uprising had been gigging for 10 years when they decided to start recording. One of their first releases was a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Master Blaster”, produced by The Inner Circle Band. The recording came to the attention of Stevie Wonder, who invited the group to California to work with him. This led to the group’s

disbandment because some members took up the offer while others declined and remained in South Florida. Sea B took a hiatus from performing and perused a career in the corporate world, becoming the manager of a multimillion dollar medical equipment company but after six and a half years, Sea B said, “Something just kept saying, during all that while - the music, the music, so I started recording my solo project because the sprits that be said, ‘jump into it”. So I started building tracks and it was a long process because I would leave work and go to the studio for long hours, but the vibe was great, though I had to be back at work the next morning.”

“However, it was a process where the vibe of the music, the love of it, the spirit that had been put there by the Most High just kept moving. Out of all of that work, came the album “Yes It’s True”. This album is the outcry of the people; the concept is about the struggle of poor people. To strengthen that appeal, we are in the process of shooting a video for the track “Oh Jah”, which says, “I am calling on the Most High God; the children need Your helping hand today”. I have always admired the works of Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Earth Wind & Fire and Bob Dylan. Those artists have inspired me. I am a product of that environment and I aim to continue that roots/reality tradition, working through the powers of the most high.”
